Expenses for Hands-On Programs
To All Survivors & Co-workers
It is our desire that as many of our surviving family members and co-workers living in Georgia, attend the annual Hands-On Programs hosted by the National Office of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). We hope they will participate not just once, but year after year, to strengthen the bonds and connections they have formed with fellow survivors.
Any survivor who attends and completes their appropriate Hands-On Program will be reimbursed for their travel expense, airfare or mileage, after their return home. For airfare, a copy of the airline itinerary must be submitted to the chapter. Reimbursement is limited to standard coach fares and baggage fees. If traveling by personal vehicle, mileage will be reimbursed, along with up to one night's lodging and reasonable meal expenses incurred during travel. Receipts are required for all reimbursement requests. The National Office of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) covers lodging and meals during the Hands-On Program. Because this program is offered at no cost to surviving family members living in Georgia, neither our chapter nor National C.O.P.S. wants financial concerns to prevent anyone from attending. Our goal is to remove that burden so you can focus on your healing and well-being.
National C.O.P.S. provides hands-on programs specifically designed for
each survivor to help rebuild their shattered lives. These programs allow survivors to receive support from peers who know how they feel, attend seminary sessions specifically designed for their needs and obtain resources to help them on their journey of grief coping. The programs are held in a casual and relaxed setting that is removed from the stress of everyday life.
